Sea Otter Dual Slalom

I managed to drive all the way down to Monterey this spring to attend Sea Otter.  I showed up with no expectations and to just hang out and shoot some photos.  This event is huge-- I had no idea just how big it really is.  I was most excited to check out the DH Finals and take advantage of finally being able to shoot all my favourite athletes from the World Cup circuit.  Little did I know that they were all competing in the Dual Slalom event as well.   I have never seen a dual slalom event and it blew my mind!  Watching world cup athletes go head to head was amazing and gave the DH race a back seat in Sea Otter for the best event.

Every race was amazing but it came down to Jared Graves and Steve Peat in the end.  Everybody wanted "The Peoples Champion" Steve Peat to win.  As you can see by the photos of the final below it was a very close race but Jared pulled ahead right at the very end (Peat is in the red jersey, Graves in the blue).

What an amazing race!  There will be more photos to come from Sea Otter once I return from my trip.  Now we are on to the last Post Office Jam before the jumps are flattened later this week.

March Pow at FWA

Catskiing season is coming to an end and the conditions are the best they have been all season.  Here are some photos from the last couple of days.  If you haven't had the chance to get out there this season it's worth calling to office to see if they have any openings.  http://www.powdercatskiing.ca/

Enjoy the photos.

Fox HQ Canada w_ Paul Genovese & Friends

Got out with Paul,Dylan and Kevin last week and made a quick day trip to Calgary Fox headquarters to get a bit of riding in.  Dylan rode a scooter.

January 27th Reset at FWA

Typical Fernie.  Forecast 1-3 and almost 30 falls over night.  I love this place for that.  That also means that the skiing up at FWA is amazing right now so if you haven't been before this is a perfect week to get on it.  Here are a few shots of the guides loving their job today.

Island Lake!

Today was the start of a great winter at Island Lake Lodge.  Got the chance to get out and get some shots today and check out the terrain with photographers Matt Kuhn, Mark Gallup, Mike McPhee and athlete Caleb Brown.  Excited to see what this place has in store for this season.

Timber & White Pass Opening Tomorrow

The Griz has finally kicked in and the snow is mega deep.  Tomorrow morning the new side will be open and with 32cm's overnight and what looked like another 15cm's during the day and a possible added 15cm's tonight means tomorrow is gonna be deep.  Thanks again to F.A.R we managed to get a couple shots of what it looks like up there but it was snowing too hard most of the time to take many shots .  Take a look and get pumped for tomorrows opening!

Fernie Alpine Resort

It's winter!  Now that the temperature has dropped and rain is gone it's time for the snow to come.  Fernie Alpine Resort is starting to look pretty good up top.   Jamie Rizzuto, Luke Nelson and I were lucky enough to be allowed on the new side today to test out the conditions and snap some photos.  Obviously it's still pretty shallow at the base but up top it's looking like full on winter and it's skiing pretty good.  With it snowing all day on us and the runs getting better every hour we are sure to have a pretty good opening of the new side if it opens this coming weekend.  Here are some of the photos of our day.  Enjoy!
